Quite White

It's hard to believe that a card that is completely white can be more than just a plain piece of paper. When I saw the challenge at Operation Write Home, to make a card that's white on white, I wasn't sure how it would turn out. It's amazing how some embossing and pearls can add so much to a card.

Supplies:
Paper - Whisper White
Embossing - Beautiful Wings, Elegant Lines
Jewels - Pearls

Birthday Harvest

This is the card I made for my dad for his birthday. Like most other card makers, I really struggle making cards for men. I think the tractor really helps give it a masculine look. 8-)
Supplies:
Stamps - Harvest Blessing, Wetlands
Paper - Crumb Cake, Whisper White
Ink - Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Marina Mist, Pear Pizzazz, Soft Sky
Ribbon - Natural Trim

Be Mine

I understand most people might not be thinking about Valentine's Day this time of year. However, in order to get cards to our Heroes in time for them to be sent to their True Loves for Valentine's Day, I need to get the cards to Operation Write Home by the end of the year. I am using their Sketch Challenge this week for my design inspiration.
Supplies:
Stamps - Hearts a Flutter, Delightful Dozen
Card Stock - Basic Black, Real Red, Very Vanilla
DSP - Modern Medley
Ink - Basic Black, Real Red
Thinlit - Hearts a Flutter

Stamps - Serene Silhouettes, Trust God
Paper - Basic Black, Elegant Eggplant, Whisper White
Ink - Always Artichoke, Basic Black, Elegant Eggplant, Island Indigo, Marina Mist, Pacific Point, Soft Sky
Punch - Curly Label
Embossing Powder - Clear

Paper - Night of Navy, Whisper White
Ink - Midnight Muse, Night of Navy, Pacific Point, VersaMark

Christmas Card Repeat

Things have been a little hectic in my life (or should I say my daughter's life) these last few days, so I haven't had the opportunity to play and create. Below is a Christmas card I created last year. It's a simple card to create, and easy to make a lot to send to friends and family.

Ink - Basic Black
Embellishments - Basic Black Candy Dots

Nativity in Snow

When I started this card, I had originally planned to make a basic "Triple Time Stamping" card. Then I thought the Wonderful Blessing stamp might work well as the top layer. I must say, I am quite pleased with the way it turned out.

So, I guess this is just a Double Time Stamping card?
Supplies:
Stamps - Best of Snow, Wonderful Blessing
Paper - Night of Navy, Whisper White
Ink - VersaMark
Embossing Powder - White
Thinlit - Circles Collection (for inner circle)
The outer circle was cut with a circle cutter.

Pansies

It didn't matter how much I wanted to escape to make cards these last few days, it was not to happen. Finally, I found some quiet time all to myself. I found the sketch design at Operation Write Home, so it was easier than usual to visualize what I was going to create.
Supplies:
Stamps - Flower Shop
Card Stock - Elegant Eggplant, Whisper White
DSP - Elegant Eggplant, Pistachio Pudding
Ink - Elegant Eggplant
Ribbon - Ruffled Pistachio Pudding

Nature

I wanted to work on something other than a Christmas card. I like making Christmas cards, but I needed to take a step back to boost my creativity so I could come up with fresh ideas for more Christmas cards! (I hope it works.)

This is the first time I've used this stamp set, and I'm really happy with the outcome. I decided to add dimensionals to give it a little something extra. Because the butterfly has those thin legs and antenna, I stamped it twice. Once was directly to the card and the other I stamped, colored and cut out.
Supplies:
Stamps - A Round Array, Nature Walk
Card Stock - Rich Razzleberry, Very Vanilla
DSP - Gingham Garden
Ink - Basic Black, Crumb Cake, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie, Rich Razzleberry
Ribbon - Lucky Limeade Ruffled
Embossing Powder - Clear
Punches - 7/8" Scallop Circle, 1" Circle

Let It Snow

Seriously, "let it snow" is not a term I use very often. We have had years where we couldn't see the two-story house across the street. However, the last couple of years, we've been able to ride our motorcycles in January. This year, I'm hoping for a "normal" winter. That's why I'm willing to make cards that say, "Let It Snow."
Supplies:
Stamps - Best of Snow, Endless Wishes
Paper - Midnight Muse, Whisper White
Ink - Midnight Muse
Embossing Powder - Clear

Sharing the Glory & Hanging the Holly

I spent Saturday at my sister's for a craft day. It's an annual event with friends and family. Just a relaxing day working on whatever craft project we want, eating (of course), and enjoying each others' company.

These are the cards I worked on while I was there.

Supplies:
Stamps - Christmas Lodge, More Merry Messages
Paper - Night of Navy, Whisper White
Ink - Basic Black, Midnight Muse, Night of Navy, Pacific Point
Embossing Powder - Clear, Iridescent Ice (tree)

Card for Mom

My mom's birthday is just around the corner and I realized I hadn't made her a card. I have her gifts, which still need to be wrapped, but hadn't even thought about a card. As I was thinking about one of the items I got for her, the idea of this card came to mind. Don't you just love it when the perfect design just pops in and allows your imagination to create?

As I began putting the card together, stamping and sponging, I made a few adjustments and am very pleased with the end result.

Supplies:
Stamps - Everything Eleanor
Paper - Always Artichoke, Very Vanilla
Ink - Always Artichoke, Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry, VersaMark
Embossing Powder - Gold
Ribbon - Always Artichoke Seam Binding

Embellishment - Dazzling Details Silver Sparkle

Snowy Scene

When my husband saw this card, his response was, "Wow, that looks like Christmas." I was surprised that he really liked all that sparkle.

For this effect, I used VersaMark, Heat and Stick Powder, and Dazzling Diamonds. The process is easy, but takes a bit longer than just stamping an image. First I applied the VersaMark directly to the paper (after all the stamping and inking), then I applied the Heat and Stick Powder. This powder requires heating to make it sticky. Finally, I applied the Dazzling Diamonds (not embossing powder), and heated the card again which causes the diamonds to "stick." (A note of caution: you will have dazzling diamonds around for a while.)
Supplies:
Stamp - Scenic Season
Paper - Night of Navy, Whisper White
Ink - Basic Black, Midnight Muse, Night of Navy, Pacific Point, VersaMark
Embellishment - Heat and Stick Powder with Dazzling Diamonds

Serene Medley

I've been working with a lot of winter scenes and needed to make a switch. Don't worry, I will be making more winter scenes. For now, though, I thought I would try something a little different. I really like the way it turned out.
Supplies:
Stamps - Serene Silhouettes, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Card Stock - Basic Black, Very Vanilla
DSP - Modern Medley
Ink - Basic Black
Punches - Modern Label, Word Window
Jewels - Pearls
Embossing Powder - Clear

I have discovered that, because the Basic Black ink tends to take a bit longer to dry, if I add clear embossing powder I no longer smudge the ink. Since I started doing this, I have cut my smudging down to nothing!

Snowy Night

Don't you just love the way the moon will glisten on the snow and make it look like tiny diamonds all over the place? That's what this looks like to me.
Supplies:
Stamps - Lovely as a Tree
Paper - Basic Gray, Night of Navy, Whisper White
Ink - Basic Black, Midnight Muse, Night of Navy, Silver Encore, VersaMark
(I stamped the trees in Basic Black, then I stamped slightly above the image with VersaMark and used Iridescent Ice embossing powder. Sponging the sky in Midnight Muse and Night of Navy is resisted by the embossed area and making it look like snow. For the ground snow, I sponged Silver Encore, then added the Iridescent Ice embossing powder. I created the snowflakes using the White Gel Pen.)

Merry Christmas Lodge

I made a card similar to this last year and like it so much, I'm making it again this year.

The easiest way to stamp this card is to cut the small, white pieces and lay them out on the larger white piece. Then just stamp your images. This way, the images aren't distorted by "stretching" them out if you stamp, then cut. I use a tiny amount of adhesive on the backs, to keep them in place while stamping.
Supplies:
Stamps - Christmas Lodge
Paper - Cherry Cobbler, Whisper White
Ink - Always Artichoke, Basic Black, Cherry Cobbler
Embellishment - Dazzling Details
