It's time to build up my stash of birthday cards. If I don't get moving, I will be neglecting friends and family on their special days. She Believed

My daughter is an EMT and working towards becoming a paramedic. She is in a program at a local college which is a bridge program to help EMTs become paramedics. There are three levels to the program, and she just completed the first level! Upon completion of the third and final level, she will be guaranteed a spot in the paramedic program. She was one of seven, from a group of 200, who completed the first level.

There was a special pinning ceremony, and her dad had the honor of placing the pin on her. To say we are proud of our daughter is an understatement! We know that she can accomplish whatever she puts her mind to. She's proven it!!!

This is the card I made to give her that evening:
Stamps - Feel Goods, Gorgeous Grunge
Cardstock - Basic Black, Elegant Eggplant, Whisper White
Ink - Elegant Eggplant

Happiest Season Ever

I do love Christmas. The twinkling of lights surrounded by snow (yes, I like snow during the Christmas holiday); Christmas carols; watching classic (black and white) Christmas movies; sitting by the fire and listening to Nutcracker Suite.

This is a simple card, with a bit of glitter to dress it up a bit.

Stamps - Festival of Trees, More Merry Messages
Cardstock - Cherry Cobbler, Mossy Meadow, Whisper White
Ink - Cherry Cobbler, Mossy Meadow
Accessories - Scallop Trim border punch, Dazzling Details (regular, Cherry Cobbler and Silver Sparkle)

White Christmas Flurries

I was inspired by a card I found on Pinterest. (I just love "window shopping" on Pinterest.) I followed it to Cathy's Craft Room, where she posted cards from a card swap. I finally discovered the card that inspired me was made by Wanda Williams.

I stamped the snowman twice. The first time was directly to the Smoky Slate; the second was on Whisper White. I then cut out the white snowman and attached him on top of the Smoky Slate one. This way, I didn't need to worry about cutting out his arms.

Stamps - White Christmas
Cardstock - Cherry Cobbler, Smoky Slate, Whisper White
Ink - Cherry Cobbler, Memento Tuxedo Black
Accessories - Dazzling Details, Northern Flurry Embossing Folder

Lovely Summer Trees

The last of this Lovely Trees series. As I hope you have been able to see, it is easy to change the look (or season) of the trees. The leaves were easily created by using the Stampin' Write markers and placing random dots along the branches.

I hope you've enjoyed this series as much as I did creating the cards.

Stamps - Lovely As A Tree
Cardstock - Early Espresso, Pear Pizzazz, Very Vanilla
Ink - Always Artichoke, Early Espresso, Mossy Meadow, Old Olive, Pear Pizzazz

This is my spring card in the series. Along with using lighter shades of green, I also changed up the matting to encourage the spring-like look.

Ink - Always Artichoke, Early Espresso, Old Olive, Pear Pizzazz
Accessories - Pear Pizzazz Taffeta Ribbon, Very Vanilla Candy Dots

Lovely Winter Trees

The second card of the set. I'm going with a seasonal theme (in case you didn't notice). Of the four cards, this is the least labor intensive, and the only one I didn't use Stampin' Write markers.  The embossing was an afterthought, but definitely adds to the snowy effect.

Stamps - Lovely As A Tree
Cardstock - Smoky Slate, Very Vanilla
Ink - Soft Sky (very subtle), Memento Tuxedo Black
Accessories - Decorative Dots embossing folder, Frosted Finishes, Silver 1/8" ribbon

Lovely Autumn Trees

It's been a while since I've played with the Lovely As A Tree set. It was one of my first stamp sets from Stampin' Up! and it's still a favorite. My goal is to make a set of. at least, four cards. Obviously, this is the first. I've been playing a lot with the Blendabilities, but decided on the Stampin' Write markers for this card.

Stamps: Lovely As A Tree
Cardstock - Hello Honey, Soft Suede, Very Vanilla
Ink - Always Artichoke, Cajun Craze, Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Hello Honey, Old Olive, Mossy Meadow
Embossing Folder - Square Lattice

Sweetbriar Rose

I took a break from cleaning and reorganizing the house. My reward for switching out my warm-weather clothes for my cold-weather clothes. Since this is what I came up with, I guess my mind still isn't willing to accept the fact that the leaves will soon be falling from the trees and snow is right around the corner. I created and cut the window using my Silhouette.

Stamp - Sweetbriar Rose
Cardstock - Old Olive, Whisper White
Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black
Blendabilities - Melon Mambo, Old Olive, Rich Razzleberry (the lightest shade)
Embossing Folder - Flower Garden

Practice. . .

I'm not getting as much practice with the Blendabilities as I would like, but I am enjoying the process. I began with just a few sets of Blendabilities to decide if I would enjoy them. I do! I've watched a few technique videos to get me started, and have already ordered more sets. Yep, I'm hooked.

Christmas Pine

Yep, I'm already working on Christmas cards. Working on Christmas cards in September seems early to me too, but I couldn't resist when I received this set. Living in the mountains, I just love this Ornamental Pine stamp. This great design was inspired by Dawn Olchefske's card.

Card Stock - Very Vanilla
Ink - Cherry Cobbler, Mossy Meadow, Soft Suede

Love You Always

The house is still under construction, but we are staying here for a few days. So, of course, I am taking advantage. Have I said how much I really like the "Gorgeous Grunge" stamp set? It's perfect for making cards that have that "not too feminine" look, which is what I was going for when I made this set of cards.

Stamps - Gorgeous Grunge, Something to Say
Card Stock - Blackberry Bliss, Hello Honey, Lost Lagoon, Mossy Meadow, Tangelo Twist, Very Vanilla
Ink - Blackberry Bliss, Hello Honey, Lost Lagoon, Mossy Meadow, Tangelo Twist, Jet Black StazOn

Caring Thoughts by the Tide

This is my take on a card done by Ann Schach at The Stampin' Schach. This is one of those stamp sets that I really wanted, but didn't purchase because I had a similar set "By the Seashore." After seeing Ann's card, I lost all resolve and bought "By the Tide!"

Ink - Pink Pirouette, Sahara Sand, Soft Sky, Soft Suede, Wild Wasabi
Accessories - Bitty Banners Framelits, Coastal Cabana Blendabilities (for coloring the Rhinestones), Dazzling Diamonds, Hemp Twine (ret.)

Wetland Birthday

I found a similar card done by another Stampin' Up! demonstrator. I really like the way she had the raised cut-out. After stamping the image, I used the 1 3/8" square punch to cut out the image. The frame around the cut-out is 1 1/2".

Stamps - Wetlands
Card Stock - Crumb Cake, Sky Blue, Whisper White
Ink - Crumb Cake, Sahara Sand, Sky Blue, StazOn Black
Punch - 1 3/8" Square

Box of Bright Blooms

Playing with the MDS again. This card took me several days to create, and I never needed to clean up my mess at the end of each day. Can you imagine all the scraps of paper lying about after making this many flowers? Not only that, but it would probably be really bulky to mail a card with this many three-dimensional elements. The reason it took so long is because I only had a little bit of time to play each evening.

MDS Supplies:
Stamps - Baroque Motifs, Twitterpated
Elements - Bright Blooms, Gold Brads
DSP - WatercolorWonder
Colors - Always Artichoke, Chocolate Chip, Daffodil Delight, Gumball Green, Marina Mist, Melon Mambo, Rich Razzleberry, Whisper White

Happy Watercolor

You might have seen on my previous post that my house is under construction. Fortunately, I did not need to pack up my "play room." Unfortunately, I'm not staying at my house right now -- no kitchen, living or dining rooms.

Since I do still have limited down time, I have a need to create something! Yay for MDS! It does take me a bit longer to create a card, but I will be able to print out several of them and use them in the future. I'll even be able to take a basic card and embellish it, or "step it up."

I made this one utilizing the sketch challenge from Operation Write Home.

Stamps - Happy Watercolor
DSP - Watercolor Wonder

Under Construction

It's official! The remodel to my house is under way. I no longer have a kitchen or living room; including the roof covering the two rooms, and walls are being torn down and re-built. At the moment, we still have water and electricity, but I'm not sure for how much longer.

Unfortunately, this means my card-making days have become non-existent. In my mind, I thought I might be able to pull it off. Hide in my craft room for an hour or two each day, and allow myself time to play and create. Alas, this is not to be. I might find some time to create cards using MDS, but there's no guarantee.

On the bright side, the roof trusses will be delivered next week, and a new roof should be in place by the weekend. The majority of the work should only take a couple of months, and I'll have a larger living/dining room and kitchen, plus a mud room.

Wish me luck, and if you have any words of wisdom to help me keep my sanity, please leave me a comment.
