My Apologies!

I knew it had been a while since I last posted anything, but did not realize it has been since before Thanksgiving - Yikes! In my defense, I have been working full time (money to purchase my stamping addiction supplies), creating gifts for Christmas, visiting friends and family, throw in a few parties, and spending quality time with my husband.

For the Christmas gifts, I crocheted two mermaid tail afghans for my great nieces. I have it on good authority that they LOVE them. I also crocheted some reusable face scrubbies for my mom. I found them on Pinterest, and also made some for myself. Oh, and at the last minute, my daughter requested a wide, black, crocheted headband.

When taking a break from crocheting, I created gifts using adhesive vinyl cut with my Silhouette. For my daughter, I made glass candle holders with scenes from New York, London and Paris. Although she's been to New York, she would love to go back and also visit Paris and London. My sister loves eggnog during the holidays, so I made her a special glass that says "Stacy's Eggnog." This was my husband's idea, and she loves it.

A couple other items I made, with the help of my Silhouette I used shadow boxes. (The ideas came from Pinterest again.) One was for a Christmas gift exchange: I placed red and white DSP in the back, added silver and red jingle bells (about 1/3 full), then added "Jingle all the way!" to the front of the glass. The next two shadow boxes have a black background, white frame, and I placed a split monogram letter with the last name placed in the split.

In almost forgot. . . I had a couple of small wine carafes. For two girlfriends, I cut out a silhouette of Lake Tahoe (where we live), and included an additional cut out of their initial.

For co-workers, I wanted to keep it low key. I used the Curvy Keepsake Box Thinlits to create Santa boxes. I filled each of them with chocolate truffles.

Of course, last but not least, I made some special card collections. One collection was for Mom and the other was for another friend.

Although I was extremely busy with making gifts, and not posting anything, I truly enjoyed the experience. I enjoyed having the ability to make something for someone; something just for them, that they would truly enjoy. It's been a long time since I haven't stressed about finding the perfect gift.

Wishing you a wonderful New Year!

Lovely Lakeside Reflection

This was a fun (with a bit a challenge) card to make. I enjoy trying different techniques, and this was no exception. I stared by stamping the trees directly on the card, then used the Stamp-a-ma-jig to "reflect" the trees onto the water. I then used darker markers for the upper trees and lighter markers, with a lighter touch on the reflected trees. The grass, water ,sky and sun were all sponged.

I haven't used my retired Blendabilities in quite a while, so I decided it was time to pull them out. I really need to make more cards with cut objects. I find the task of cutting to be very relaxing.

I was inspired by two other card designs: one was by another Stampin' Up! demonstrator; and the other was a YouTube video I found on Pinterest that I pinned on my Techniques & Tutorials board.

Stamps - Remarkable You (139894)
Ink - Stazon Jet Black (101406)
Blendabilities - Daffodil Delight, Night of Navy, Pink Pirouette, Wild Wasabi (all retired)

Window with a View

I have a friend in the hospital, in the city. I have made several cards for others to send to him, but I made this one so I can send it. I imagine his view is more cityscape than landscape. So, I'm sending this to give him a little touch of home to look at.

Warm Winter Wishes

I started out just making a card with the sled on it. Then, one thing led to another and before I knew it, I had four cards! Actually, it took a couple of days to carve out enough time to create all of them. Cutting those little pine cones took a bit longer - but so worth it. Also, because I wasn't sure how the items were going to be placed on the three remaining cards, I cut each of those images.

First Snow

After several years of drought, we are again hoping for a snowy winter. This is what prompted me to make this card a snowy scene. I found the technique at Linda's Stampin' Escape. It's an easy technique, you just need to give it a try.

Little Red Scarf

Playing around with some ink and the Woodland embossing folder I came up with an interesting background. I then added a little snow on the branches, but wasn't sure what to place on top. Obviously, it needed some color. That's when the little red scarf floated into my imagination. I added the leafs just to give the card a bit more interest.
Stamp - Lovely as a Tree (128655)
Ink - Crumb Cake (126975)
Card Stock - Cherry Cobbler (119685), Very Vanilla (101650)

What a View

This was a fun creation. When I showed it to my husband, he decided it was "four-dimensional." I love my man. I had originally intended to place the window on top of the stamped trees, but it just didn't look right. So, what the heck, I traced around the edges with an Exacto blade.
Stamps - Lovely as a Tree (128655), Wonderland (140365)
Card Stock - Baked Brown Sugar (ret.), Mossy Meadow (133676), Whisper White (100730)
Ink - Marina Mist (126962), Mossy Meadow (133645), Smoky Slate (131179), Soft Sky (131181)
Accessories - Dazzling Details (124117), Washi Label punch (138296)

Although it appears I used the Hearth & Home Framelit (139666), I did not. I needed a smaller window, so I created one using a Silhouette.

Here is another card, using the same idea.

Soft Wonderland

I started attempting another style using this stamp. After three tries, I gave up. The technique just wasn't going to work with this stamp. On to something else. I'm not quite ready for Christmas (although I'm starting to make plans), but I am looking toward winter scenes.
Stamp - Wonderland (140365)
Card Stock - Mossy Meadow (133676), Soft Suede (115318), Whisper White (100730)

Wonderland Greetings

I am so happy with everything about this card! I had a vision and I was able to put it to paper. The brick wall was a bit of a contrast with the trees, so I decided to stamp it with Hardwood. Can you believe it? The separation between the wood planks line up perfectly with the separation between the bricks!

I printed "Greetings from Lake Tahoe" from my computer and cut it using the Washi Label punch.

Wild Times

I might be creating this card again, with a different color combination. This combination, and probably the use of the square shape, make this look like the card should be sent to a Boy Scout or Eagle Scout, I wonder if another color combination would have the same effect?
Stamps - In Wilderness (120537)
Card Stock - Hello Honey (133678), Mossy Meadow (133676), Very Vanilla (101650)
Ink - Early Espresso (126974)
Accessories - 1" (124094) and 1-1/4" (119865) Square punches, Washi Tape

Fly Away With Me

I haven't played with this stamp set for a while. Mostly because it's been retired for a while. However, just because it's no longer available from Stampin' Up!, doesn't mean I can't continue to use it.

I stamped the balloon baskets directly to the Whisper White card stock, then embossed it with Cloudy Day. The balloons were added with dimensionals.
Stamps - Up, Up & Away (122755)
Card Stock - Tempting Turquoise (102067), Whisper White (100730)
Ink - Daffodil Delight (126944), Real Red (126949), Tempting Turquoise (126952)

Once Upon a Tide

This was a fun card to make. I used the Triple Time Stamping technique and didn't worry about the placement of the layers. Unfortunately, I made it a while back and am not sure what colors I used. The only thing I know for sure is the stamp set is By the Tide (129120).

Card Stock - Blackberry Bliss, Whisper White

Trees - So Lovely

This is one of those cards that started out one way, and ended up like this. I envisioned something that didn't turn out the way I anticipated. Fortunately with stamping, there can always be a plan "B", or even a plan "C". This was my "Final" plan.

Stamp - Lovely as a Tree
Card Stock - Mossy Meadow, Very Vanilla
Ink - Early Espresso
Stampin' Write Markers - every green color, and some Daffodil Delight

Summer Trees

This style of adding the leafs to the trees takes a bit of time, but I'm really happy with the effect. I use two or three colors of the Stampin' Write markers and lightly tap the tip all over. The fine tip makes tiny leafs and the brush tip makes slightly larger ones.

I used Blendabilities to color the sky and grass.
Stamp - Lovely as a Tree
Card Stock - Old Olive, Very Vanilla
Ink/Stampin' Write Markers/Blendabilities - Always Artichoke, Early Espresso, Old Olive, Pear Pizzazz, So Saffron, Soft Sky

Sturdy Oak

Every year, family and friends go camping in the same location. Last year, my husband and I weren't able to go. This year, we can't wait to get there.

The campground has sites on both sides of a river. One side has lots and lots of redwood trees. The other side, the side we camp on, has oak trees everywhere. This stamp always reminds me of our annual camping trip.

Stamp - Lovely as a Tree
Card Stock - Early Espresso, Very Vanilla
Ink - Early Espresso, Mossy Meadow, Pear Pizzazz
