Get Well

I made this card to send to a male, family member who will be having surgery this week. I got the idea from another Stampin' Up! demonstrator. I just loved the way she used the Woodgrain embossing folder to give the appearance of a rippling pond.

Stamps - Wetlands
Cardstock - Baja Breeze, Soft Suede, Whisper White
Ink - Crumb Cake, Soft Suede, Memento Tuxedo Black
Embossing Folder - Woodgrain

This is just a quick, easy, birthday card. It took me longer to get it posted than it did to make it.

Ink - Crumb Cake, Sahara Sand, Memento Tuxedo Black
Blendabilities - Soft Sky

Wetland Birthday

I found a similar card done by another Stampin' Up! demonstrator. I really like the way she had the raised cut-out. After stamping the image, I used the 1 3/8" square punch to cut out the image. The frame around the cut-out is 1 1/2".

Supplies:
Stamps - Wetlands
Card Stock - Crumb Cake, Sky Blue, Whisper White
Ink - Crumb Cake, Sahara Sand, Sky Blue, StazOn Black
Punch - 1 3/8" Square

Wetland Birthday

This is a birthday card for a friend. Of course, looking at just the front, you would never be able to tell it's for a birthday. This layout was inspired by a card I found at Paper Into Love. As you can see, it could be used for a lot of different occasions, or just to send a note to a friend.

Supplies:
Stamps - Wetlands
Paper - Elegant Eggplant, Old Olive, Whisper White
Ink - Elegant Eggplant
Punches - 1" Square, Postage Stamp
Embossing Folder - Square Lattice

The lacy adhesive trim is from Stampin' Up!, but I can't remember what it's called. This is actually the first time I've used it. Not sure what took me so long.

This is the latest sketch at Operation Write Home. At first I wasn't sure about it, but thought I would give it a go. After a couple of false starts, I finally got this put together. I'm quite pleased with the way it turned out.

Birthday Harvest

This is the card I made for my dad for his birthday. Like most other card makers, I really struggle making cards for men. I think the tractor really helps give it a masculine look. 8-)

Stamps - Harvest Blessing, Wetlands
Paper - Crumb Cake, Whisper White
Ink - Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Marina Mist, Pear Pizzazz, Soft Sky
Ribbon - Natural Trim

Lovely Winter Tree

More masking and stamping. And, of course, a wintry scene. To create the "snow" on the branches and needles, I first stamped the images with Basic Black. Then, I stamped slightly above the image with VersaMark and used clear embossing powder. From that point, the daubed ink is resisted where there is clear embossing powder.
Supplies:
Stamps - Lovely as a Tree, Watercolor Winter, Wetlands
Paper - Marina Mist, Whisper White
Ink - Basic Black, Marina Mist, Smoky Slate, VersaMark
Embossing Powder - Clear

Wetland Terns

Over the weekend, I was showing my mom some of my cards. She really liked one of the cards with the terns on it from the Wetlands stamp set. She didn't want to take the one she liked, until I reminded her that I can always make more. Here is one of the "more" I will be making.
Supplies:
Stamps - Wetlands
Paper - Basic Black, Pear Pizzazz, Very Vanilla
Ink - Basic Black, Crumb Cake, Marina Mist, Pool Party, Pear Pizzazz, Sahara Sand

At the Beach

My previous post, Evolution of a Beach Scene, gives the information for the scene elements. This is the final product.
The card base is Whisper White, with a Basic Gray matte. The ribbon is Pear Pizzazz taffeta.

Evolution of a Beach Scene

As I was cruising around the internet, I came across this picture for a travel site. I have no idea what site it is from, I was just so inspired by the scene. I thought, "I can create a scene similar to this for a card." Below, is the evolution of creating the scene.

Step #1: come up with a close proximity of what you want your card to look like.

I really like the way the sand dunes turned out, but the ocean, waves and sky just weren't right.

Step #2: Begin making adjustments.

I added more whitecaps to the waves and attempted a little more depth to the ocean. I wanted to see how Witch Hazel would work with blending the ink; it works better than anticipated. I'm not sure if I would have gotten the same effect from plane water.

Step #3: Finishing touches.

I added more whitecaps and dimension to the ocean. It's difficult to tell, but I added some Marina Mist lines with a Stampin' Write marker, then blended it with a little Witch Hazel.

As you can tell above, the grass got a little invisible due to all the blending of the ocean and waves. I just used my trusty Pear Pizzazz Stampin' Write marker and re-drew the lines and added the "feathers" on top.

I created this beach scene using Whisper White card stock; and Wetlands (grass), and Up, Up & Away (birds) stamps. The primary ink I used was Marina Mist, Pear Pizzazz, Sahara Sand, and Soft Sky. I also used a white gel pen for my the whitecaps.

From here, I plan to use this for the front of a card. I'm hoping to get it done later today (or tomorrow). I will post it as soon as I have it completed. (The Card!)

Sand Dunes

I was watching a home improvement show and at the end of the program, when they were showing the finished room, there was a beautiful sand and seascape painting on the wall. I was inspired to create a card from the scene. This is my first attempt.
Supplies:

  • Stamps - Up, Up & Away (ret.), Wetlands
  • Paper - Basic Black, Very Vanilla
  • Ink - Basic Black, Marina Mist, Pear Pizzazz, Sahara Sand
  • Ribbon - Natural Trim

Wetlands Pizzazz

Another wetlands scene. For this card, instead of sponging the color on, I used a dauber. I think either technique works well.
Supplies:
  • Stamps - Wetlands
  • Paper - Basic Black, Pear Pizzazz, Whisper White
  • Ink - Basic Black, Marina Mist, Pear Pizzazz, Sahara Sand
  • Ribbon - Basic Black Taffeta (ret.)
  • Embossing Powder - Clear

Marina Mist Wetlands

I was inspired by a card I saw at Stamp Up Your Craft. Aileen did beautiful cards with this stamp set and gave a wonderful explanation of how to do the technique. Unfortunately, I did not have all of the supplies to pull off the same technique, but she did leave me with the inspiration.
I started by stamping the birds with basic black, the embossing them with clear embossing powder. I then used a sponging technique to create the background, using Marina Mist and Crumb Cake. After I stamped the reeds in Baked Brown Sugar, I used a white gel pen to brighten the birds just a bit.

Supplies:
  • Stamps - Wetlands
  • Paper - Basic Black, Whisper White
  • Ink - Baked Brown Sugar, Basic Black, Crumb Cake, Marina Mist
  • Ribbon - Crumb Cake Taffeta
  • Other - clear embossing powder, white gel pen
